2014 saw a visit to Eire for 8 members leaving on Friday May 16th and returning on Monday 19th

In all 7 aviaries were visited and a good time was had by all thanks to the hospitality of our eire fancier friends

The trip to Holland was very enjoyable with 5 members going. Upon leaving Worthing at 5-45am we proceeded to the Tunnel and arrived in France at 10-30am

then onto Belgium and into Holland arriving at Willie Doktor at 3-15pm. Willie had kindly come back from holiday to let us see his birds.

There were some good ones but not for sale as he normally sells in May.

There we met our host for the weekend Peter vanAmelsvoort in Raalte who took us to see his birds, these were very impressive with many family likenesses,

and an evening of chat and beer followed with a burger & chips which went down well.

Saturday it was back at Peters till lunch time then to to the partnership Gijs Dijkgraaf & Sigham Kandiidah who presnted us with a spread of food comprising cream cake and Shrilankan tit-bits, then it was time to look at birds and what a stud, most colours ,no red-eyes but a stud built on Lutolf and Doktor.

The evening we had dinner at our hotel with our host Peter.

Sunday up at 8-00am and to Wim Hattink who again put on a  wonderful spread of food before us  looking at the birds. Another excellent stud of most colours, birds breeding and novel nest boxes with adjustable ventilation and removable plastic concave trays.

The afternoon we moved onto Gerad & Annemieke Schrijver, again more food before viewing their fantastic Koi pond and up to the birds on a second floor birdroom. Here we studied the birds and made a few purchases.

Monday it was time to leave and drive back to the tunnel through bucketing rain and arrived home in Worthing at 6-00pm

Overall we made some good friends saw some excellent studs of birds and brought back 15 outcrosses between us, we were also given 2 cages as we ran out of space in the ones we had taken. We look forward to meeting these fanciers at the Club Show in November.

Our drivers Malcolm & Mick did an excellent job shareing the duties between them.
